Riot Games comes with two new pieces of news from the Valorant universe this week: the release of Episode 5, Act 2, as well as the Champions 2022 skins.
Episode 5, Act II brings a series of updates to the world of Valorant
With the release of Episode 5, Act II of Valorant, the in-game Battlepass will be available for 1,000 VP. There will be both free and paid updates.
This was the first time the team behind the game has attempted to build a Battlepass around a central theme: Myths and Legends. According to producer Laura Baltzer, if players choose Obsidian or Immortalized Vandal, they should feel as legendary as pro tournament players or comic book agents as they ascend.
The list of freebies includes the Immortal Sheriff, the Spike Showdown player card, the Rising Tide player card, the Guess That’s It spray, and the Magic Hummingbird Gun Buddy. As for the paid highlights, players will get Obsidiana, Immortalized Vandal, Piedra del Sol Phantom, KAY /O K.O. Player Card, Hehehehe Spray and Kitsune Mask Gun Buddy.
Behind this Battlepass are many different stories and cultures that Valorant drew inspiration from. The Hit in the Ankle Spray, for example, is a nod to ancient sculptures and artwork of Achilles, the Kiss the Frog Gun Buddy is inspired by the famous story of the Princess and the Frog, and the Anansi Buddy is inspired by the many stories about the eponymous spider.
Champions 2022, a limited edition of skins
The new Champions 2022 skins come with a number of aspirational features designed to reward players’ skills and best moments. For example, whether a player is the last player alive in that round or all of his teammates have survived with him, everyone on the team will know when he is unstoppable in the game.

The Champions 2022 skin includes two features related to the champion’s appearance, but also a custom change depending on the model chosen. More specifically, it is a visual effect that evolves every 5 kills (maximum 25 kills), or an easter egg on the butterfly knife that activates when a player becomes a top fragger with a little more than 25 kills.
The bundle worth 6265 VP features Champions 2022 Phantom, Champions 2022 Butterfly Knife, Champions 2022 Gun Buddy, Champions 2022 Player Card and Champions 2022 Spray.
Through September 21, 50% of the net proceeds of the Champions 2022 Collection will go to participating teams. The collection is limited edition, which means the skins will not return to the Valorant Store or Night Market.
Commenting on the development of Champions 2022, Valorant producer Laura Baltzer said, ” When we designed the arms for Champions 2022, we wanted to give players a skin that had the same effect as last year’s: to be aspirational and bold, so players can show off their skills no matter where they are in the standings. To achieve this, we took many elements from the Champions 2021 weapons that players loved and added a few surprises.
