Uber has decided to suspend testing of self driving cars in the United States after a self driving car belonging to Uber killed a pedestrian in Arizona.
The testing projects of self driving cars in San Francisco, Pittsburgh, Phoenix and Toronto were also suspended.
An Uber self driving car killed a pedestrian on Sunday evening in Tempe, Arizona. The incident is currently being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board ( NTSB ).
When the accident occurred a Uber operator was inside the self driving car who had the mission of being an observer.
“Our thoughts go out to the family of the victim. We are fully cooperating with the authorities in the investigation” Uber says.
One year ago Uber suspended the self driving car program after another incident but fortunately at that time there were no victims.
