Thousands of people lost their lives in shootings throughout the United States in the last few years. In the U.S. people are finding it easier to buy guns and this may be one of the reasons why the country is dealing with so many public shootings.

Let’s take a look at 10 of the most bloodiest shootings in the history of the U.S.

10. Fort Hood, Texas – november 5, 2009

13 dead, 33 wounded.

Attacker : Nidal Hasan (47 years old).

9. Edmond, Oklahoma – 20 august 1986

15 killed, including the attacker, and 6 wounded.

Attacker: Patrick Sherill (44 years old).

8. San Bernardino, California – December 2, 2015

16 dead, including the two attackers, and 24 wounded.

Attackers: Syed Rizwan Farook (28 years old ) and Tashfeen Malik, his wife (29 years old).

7. Austin, Texas – 1 august 1966

18 dead, including the attacker, and 31 wounded. The shooting is known as the “University of Texas tower shooting”.

Attacker: Charles Whitman (25 years old).

6. San Ysidro, California – 19 July 1984

22 dead, including the attacker, and 19 wounded.

Attacker: James Huberty (41 years old).

5. Killeen, Texas -16 October 1991

24 dead, including the attacker, and 27 wounded.

Attacker: George Hennard (35 years old).

4. Newtown, Connecticut – 14 December 2012

28 dead, including the attacker, his mother and 20 kids with ages between 6 and 27, and 2 wounded at the Sandy Hook elementary school.

Attacker: Adam Lanza, 20 years old.

3. Blacksburg, Virginia – 16 April 2007

33 dead, including the shooter, and 17 wounded. The shooting took place on the Virginia Tech campus.

Attacker: Seung-Hui Cho (23 years old).

2. Orlando, Florida – 12 June2016

49 dead and 58 wounded.

Shooter : Omar Mateen (29 years old).

1. Las Vegas, Nevada – 1 October 2017

59 dead and more than 527 wounded.

Attacker: Stephen Paddock ( 64 years old ).
