Actor Tom Hanks is currently negotiating to play the role of Colonel Tom Parker, the manager of the late Elvis Presley, in a new biography movie about the King of Rock’n’Roll.
The movie, which doesn’t have a title yet, will be producer by Warner Bros. The director of the new Elvis Presley biography movie will be Aussie movie maker Baz Luhrmann, who is known to the public by directing Romeo+Juliet, Moulin Rouge! and The Great Gatsby.
Colonel Tom Parker was the man who discovered Elvis presley and quickly became the first and only manager of the legendary singer. Parker was responsible for many things that happened throughout the career of Elvis Presley such as signing with the RCA label and also Elvis Presley’s movie career.
Sources close with the producers claim that the director always wanted to get a big Hollywood star to play the role of Tom Parker, however the director wants an unknown actor to play Elvis Presley.
The role of Tom Parker is not the only real person to be played by Hanks. Tom Hanks also played astronaut Jim Lowell in Apollo 13, captain Richard Phillips in Captain Phillips, Walt Disney in Saving Mr. Banks, Chelsey Sullenberger in Sully, and editor Brad Bradlee in The Post. Judging by these facts, we can say that Tom Hanks is more than suitable to play the role of Tom Parker.
