According to the information we have so far, Sony will release a good number of high end and middle range smartphones in 2018.
Last year Sony promised to change the Omnibalance design, a design the company has been using for a few years now. However, from what we know so far, Sony is not going to be making significant changes.
Sony launches two high end smartphones each year, traditionally at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and at IFA. Let’s take a look at the models we can expect from Sony this year.
Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium – The XZ Premium model from Sony was advanced, but many claimed it was too expensive and had an obsolete design. According to rumors, the XZ2 Premium model will have narrow margins and will keep the frontal speakers. Moreover, the phone will come with a glass back cover and dual camera.
Sony Xperia XA2/XS2 Ultra – It seems that Xperia XA2 will get a 5 inch display, just like the previous model. XA2 Ultra will be a phablet with a 6 inches display with Full HD resolution, Snapdragon 630 chipset, 4 GB of RAM memory and 64 GB of internal storage. The side margins will be narrow and in the front the phone will come with a dual camera for selfies. The rear camera will be conventional, with a single sensor. According to rumors, the display will keep the 16:9 aspect ratio and will come with a fingerprint sensor on the back.
Sony Xperia L2 – this model will be positioned between the XA2 and XA2 Ultra. The phone will pack a 5.5 inches display, Snapdragon 630 chipset and 4 GB of RAM memory. The phone will come with Android Nougat but the Oreo update will be delivered very fast.
