Apple has unveiled the new iPhone 14 smartphone series, which includes four models. Among the many details presented by the company slipped some interesting information for mobile gamers. The iPhone 14 Plus and iPhone 14 Pro Max models will be enhanced gaming devices.
The phones have screens with a diagonal of 6.7 inches, with a maximum brightness of 1,200 nits, and the Pro Max model comes with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. On the iPhone Plus, the refresh rate unfortunately remained at 60 Hz.
Although the iPhone 14 Plus is equipped with the same processor as last year’s A15, the device’s graphics have been improved. The GPU unit now has five cores (as on the iPhone 13 Pro), compared to four on the regular iPhone 13 series models. According to Apple, the graphics performance will be 18% higher.
At the same time, the two larger models, iPhone 14 Plus and iPhone 14 Pro Max, have more advanced cooling systems thanks to their larger dimensions, which should provide greater autonomy and better performance in games. In addition, the iPhone 14 Pro Max features the new A16 processor, which is more powerful than the A15 and consumes 20% less energy.
Pricing for the iPhone 14 Plus starts at $900. The device will be available in stores starting October 7. The cheapest iPhone 14 Pro Max will cost $1,100. This model will be launched on September 16.
The iPhone 14 series phones are Apple’s first to feature an autofocus front-facing camera. In addition, the Pro models now have a 48 MP main camera sensor and an always-on display.
The phones feature a traffic accident detection system. Crash Detection can detect four different types of accidents: Rollover, Side Impact, Frontal Impact and Rear Impact.
Apple omits the notch on the two iPhone 14 Pro models. The front camera and the Face ID system are now housed in an area called Dynamic Island, which can change its size to display notifications and other information from apps.
