In just a few weeks HBO will release the last and final season of the Game of Thrones TV series. Maybe the last volumes of the books that inspired the show have not been released yet ( we’re talking about the 6th and 7th novels, The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring ), the producers of the Game of Thrones show ended up exploring an unknown territory so they had to come up with an ending.
Game of Thrones fans fear that the next episode will unveil the ending imagined by George R.R. Martin for the novels, but George R.R. Martin made assurances in a recent Rolling Stone interview that this will not happen and that he made some changes in the book to keep the suspense going.
“I took my time with these books. The most important points of the ending will be things we’ve said five or six years ago. But there may be more changes; there will be many things to add” George R.R. Martin says.
George R.R. Martin had plenty of time to finish the fifth novel, A Dance of Dragons. The book was released in 2011, just one month after the first Game of Thrones season ended. Until June of 2016 George R.R. Martin only released samples of 11 The Winds of Winter chapters, which were seriously analyzed by fans. In April of 2018, George R.R. Martin announced on his blog the release of Fire & Blood, the volume about the history of the Targaryen family which arrived on the market in November of last year.
The release date of The Winds of Winter is still unknown as George R.R. Martin continues to work on the story.
