Filming has started in October of this year and the season will premiere only in 2019.

As Jason Momoa said, who plays Khal Drogo in the first Game of Thrones season, the show will get a spectacular ending. But the producers needed an impressive budget for the 8th and final Game of Thrones season, according to Variety. The source says that it will be the most expensive season in TV history and the most expensive of the entire Game of Thrones series.

If only $6 million were spent for each episode of the first season, each episode of the 7th season needed a budget of $10 million and the budget for one episode in the 8th Game of Thrones season will be $15 million.

The producers will shoot simultaneously in different locations and each episode will last longer than usual. The final episode will have a duration of 82 minutes. Besides sets and special effects, most of the money will be spent on salaries.

A story published last year by The Express said that for $2 million per episode was paid in 2016 to Emilia Clarke ( Daenerys ), Kit Harrington ( Jon Snow ), Lena Headey ( Cersei Lannister ), Peter Dinklage ( Tyrion Lannister ) and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau ( Jaimie Lannister ).

Filming for the new season started in October of this year and the premiere will take place only in 2019, which was confirmed by actress Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark. The creators of the show, D.B. Weiss and David Benioff will direct the final episode.
