Initially we heard estimations from the producers of the show that the final season will start airing in the fall of 2018 but actress Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark, says that the show will premiere much later than that.
Sophie Turner told Variety Magazine that the final season might start airing only in 2019.
“We started shooting in October and so far we’ve done like 10%. Leaving jokes aside, we still have about six or seven months or work to do. I’m really thrilled of what comes next. Game of Thrones will start airing in 2019” Sophie Turner says.
Sophie thus gave us some pretty harsh news if it turns out to be true. She also revealed that the atmosphere on set is special.
“We all realized this is the end. When we read the script of the last season together, it was very emotional. For the first time in the history of Game of Thrones, everybody was there. Every member of the cast was there. We fell that we’re getting closer to the end and we try to take advantage, to spend as much time together as possible” Sophie Turner also added.
“It was hard for me to say goodbye to Aiden Gillen ( the actor who plays Lord Baelish ). He was my mentor” Sophie Turner also said.
Moreover, Sophie Turner also revealed details about what to expect from Sansa Stark in the final season. ” It will be difficult for Sansa because at the end of the final season she felt like everything is in place. She got her family back. The Starks took control of the north again. There is a new threat in the new season and Sansa is over the hedge again. She will have to deal with a lot of unknowns without Littlefinger in her life” Sophie also says.
“It’s a test for her to get past what’s coming without Littlefinger watching her back. It will be a more passionate struggle for her rather than a political and manipulative one” Turner added.
One a more personal note, Sophie Turner, 21 years old, recently announced her engagement to Joe Jonas, former member of the Jonas Brothers band. The two have been dating for a year. The couple announced their engagement on Instagram.
