The Samsung Flow app, which allows you to unlock a Windows 10 computer using the fingerprint sensor implement on mobile devices built by Microsoft is going to get an update that will improve the app’s features and will add support for more devices.

At this time Samsung Flow only works with the Galaxy tab Pro S tablet. This information comes from a rep of the company as a reply to a question made on the Play Store.

The next major update of the Samsung Flow app will give us the option to use Samsung Flow on any compatible mobile device ( Samsung smartphone or tablet with a fingerprint reader ) to unlock any Windows 10 computer, even if the computer is not built by Samsung. Also, the app will allow us to unlock a computer remotely and one of the best things about it is that the devices stay interconnected even if they are not on the same Wi-Fi network.

It looks like this new major update is scheduled for release at the beginning of April, almost at the same time as the arrival of the Creators Update for Windows 10. The fact that these two updates will be released almost at the same time suggests that Samsung Flow will use new security features that will be implemented in Windows by the Creators Update, probably being compatible with the Windows Hello security system currently used to secure devices with the help of PIN passwords, facial recognition using Intel RealSense or fingerprint sensors integrated in laptops.

The update will also bring support for a feature that will allows you to access notifications and app data on a smartphone directly through the PC, but not all pre-installed Samsung apps will offer this feature. And not least, Samsung Flow remains exclusive for Windows 10. This means that computers running Windows 7 or Windows 8 have to upgrade to Windows 10 in order to be compatible with this feature.
