Exynos 9 Series 9810 is the chipset developed by Samsung for the new generation of Galaxy S9 smartphones. The chipset supports advanced facial recognition and includes a neural processing engine to detect objects in images.
Samsung does not say if the new chipset includes artificial intelligence technology to be used locally or just includes optimizations so it can better handle the features these technologies implies such as teh Bixby voice command service, possible with the help of some special servers.
Regarding facial recognition, Samsung promises enhanced security when unlocking device, which makes it possible for Samsung to copy two of the iPhone X features: Face ID and animoji effects.
Built using the 10nm manufacturing process, the Exynos 9810 chipset comes with a 100% faster processor in single-core apps and with up to 40% faster in apps optimized for multi core processing. With a speed of 2.0 GHz, the octa-core processor is divided between a quad core based on Cortex A75 high speed cores and a module based on Cortex A55 cores optimized for making the battery more efficient. The configuration is completed by a separate processing unit dedicated to securely manage personal data and biometric authentication features ( iris scan, fingerprints, facial recognition ).
Mobile internet is ensured by a LTE modem capable of reaching speeds of up to 1.2 Gbps.
Other features includes a feature called “real-time out-of-focus photography”, support for Ultra HD videos at a speed of 120 frames per second and a new image stabilizer algorithm, which can be used for taking photos of recording videos.
