Those of you who like independent projects of even Internet of Things solutions will be happy to hear that a new model of the Raspberry Pi development board has been released. It is named Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ and it is an incremental upgrade of the Pi 3 B model released in the past.
Although it is a bit more powerful, the most important improvements were made in connectivity, as the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi antennas have been seriously improved.
On the outside, the Raspbery Pi 3 Model B+ looks almost the same as its predecessor. This way the company can ensure compatibility between the new device and the old when it comes to accessories such as cases. For this reason, connectivity wise, we still get a GPIO port with 40 pins, HDMI, four USB 2.0 ports, audio jack, microUSB charging port and microSD port.
The hardware configuration of the motherboard has been almost entirely updated. We’re getting a Broadcom BCM2837B0 processor on ARM architecture with a single Cortex A53 core at 1.4 GHz, 1 GB of DDR2 memory and new Bluetooth and Wi-Fi antennas. The Wi-Fi antenna is compatible with the 802.11ac standard and you can even hook it up to 5G networks. The Bluetooth has been reduced to the 4.2 version which benefits from the Low Energy feature.
The basic price of the Raspberry Pi never changed, so the new Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ is still available at a price of $35.
