People rallied in dozens of cities in the United States of America to protest that the Trump Administration ordered the assassination of Iranian general Qasem Soleimani and they also protested against sending more troops in the Middle East.
More than 70 protests organized by CODEPINK and Act Now to Stop War and End Racism were organized in the United States of America.
From Tampa to Philadelphia and from San Francisco to New York, protesters chanted anti-war slogans.
On Friday, U.S. president Donald Trump ordered an air strike nearby the Baghdad international airport killing Iranian general Qasem Soleimani. The general was accused of attacks against U.S. troops and its allies.
Iran promised to retaliate and this increases the fears of a total war but its yet not clear how Iran might respond.
The protesters say that the Trump administration has basically started a war with Iran by killing general Soleimani.
More than 50 protesters gathered in Miami and they chanted ” We want Peace!”.
A few hundred protesters gathered in Times Square on Saturday chanting ” Without justice, no peace, U.S.A. in the Middle east”.
“The United States is trying to us Iraq as a proxy war” Russell Branca, 72 years old from Queens says. ” If the United States and Iran go to war, the war will not be in the United States or Iran, it will be in other places. And it’s just madness because none of this is necessary” Russell Branca also added.
In Minneapolis people protested nearby the University of Minnesota. Meredith Any, a leader of the local anti-war Committee was also in the crowd.
“We have to learn Iraq, we have to stop sending thousands of troops. We have to try to calm things down with Iran” Meredith Aby, 47 years old, said.
