Sony has revealed a new version of the PlayStation VR headset. We’re talking about the CUH-ZVR2 model which will come with a few improvements compared to the initial CUH-ZVR1 model: the line of the audio headset included in the package will be “integrated” in the design of the new PlayStation VR, and the connection between the headset and the processing unit attached to the console will be made using a thinner and lighter cable.
Also, for the CUH-ZVR2 model, the processing unit has received a visual redesign along with the pass-through support for HDR video signal. This means that PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro gamers will be able to enjoy HDR games without having to disconnect the processing unit that ensures connection with the PlayStation VR headset.
The initial PlayStation VR model – CUH-ZVR1 – will not be compatible with the new processing unit included in the CUH-ZVR2 package. The two PlayStation VR versions will be compatible with the same games and you can differentiate the two by the model number written on the package. The price of the CUH-ZVR2 will remain the same and the new model will gradually replace the initial PlayStation VR version.
The PlayStation VR CUH-ZVR2 will be available in Japan starting with October 14, 2017 and the new model will arrive on international markets at a later date.
