Depending how old you are, the first Diablo game might be one of those games that marked your childhood. Although it has inspired many RPG games, now you have the possibility of playing the original Diablo game through the GOG.com website.
More than 20 years after it was released, Diablo continues to have a lot of fans. Unfortunately, although it was released in 1996, you weren’t able to legally purchase it in digital versions. Blizzard focused their attention more on games such as StarCraft and WarCraft lately. Well the good news is that thanks to efforts made by GOG.com, now there are two versions of the classic Diablo game in the store.
Available – for the moment – just for Windows computers, Diablo can be purchase thanks to a partnership between Blizzard and GOG.com. The same partnership is behind the latest Warcraft 2 and Warcraft: Orcs and Humans modernized versions. The latter is the first Warcraft game and the first game ever to be developed by Blizzard. Unfortunately, the release date is unknown.
But coming back to the original Diablo game, for just $10 you have some choices ahead. There is the version that is limited to 20 frames per second with support for multiplayer through Battle.net and a native SVGA resolution ( 800 x 600 pixels ). The second version is a bit more modern, with native Windows 10 support and you can play the game at Full HD resolution. The second version also comes with a few fixed bugs.
You should also know that the original Diablo game available on GOG.com does not require the Blizzard client to be installed on your computer in order to play the game. It would have been ideal to also get Mac versions of the original Diablo game but so far we don’t have any details about one.
So, if you’re a fan of the original Diablo game, the game that has been played by millions, go over to Gog.com and get it, now.
