According to the rumors so far, the iPhone 11 generation will not bring many changes as it will represent a hardware and software upgrade of the iPhone smartphone.
New details about the three new iPhone smartphones that will become available next month – most likely – suggest that Apple is going to rethink some aspects of the iPhone family, starting from the name and continuing with design and performance issues.
Apple doesn’t have a very well established tradition when it comes to names. For a time Apple liked to use the S letter to name iPhone smartphones that have just improved hardware compared to the previous generation, but everything changed with the release of the iPhone 8 and X models, which followed after the iPhone 7 generation. Apple then used the XS, XS Max and XR names.
It appears that this year Apple will rethinking the naming strategy again. Even if the three iPhone 11 models will be “sequels” of the 2018 models, they are better delimited name wise to make it easier for fans to understand.
The basic iPhone 11 model will be the cheapest iPhone that comes out this year. Most likely the price will start from $749 in the United States and will have almost the same design and display format as the XR model released last year. We’re talking about an iPhone with 6.1 inches Liquid Retina display, Face ID, aluminum case and improved hardware under the hood, along with a double camera on the back. This will be the basic iPhone 11 model which – most likely – many will buy if the success of the iPhone XR stands to be repeated this year, as it was responsible for almost 50% of the iPhone sales in the last year.
The iPhone 11 Pro will be the premium model. The iPhone 11 Pro will come with a 5.8 inches OLED display, which is the successor of the iPhone X and iPhone XS. The phone will have a case built out of steel and glass, triple camera on the back and most likely a thinner profile. The reason why the dimensions will be smaller is the lack of the 3D Touch feature, which was included on the iPhone starting with the iPhone 6S generation but it was removed last year on the iPhone XR. Cameras will be the main focus of this model as they will get new features and improved quality. Most likely the price of the iPhone 11 Pro will start from $999 in the United States.
And not least, the top iPhone 11 that will come out this fall will be the iPhone 11 Pro Max. This phone will keep the design lines of the iPhone XS Max released last year and will come with a hardware platform almost identical to that of the iPhone 11 Pro. The major difference will be the size of display ( 6.5 inches ) and battery. It appears that Apple is trying to provide the best autonomy so far and the new iPhone 11 Pro Max will be equipped with a 3969 mAh battery, 20% bigger than the previous generation.
Design wise, the iPhone 11 Pro models will get a new look on the back. It appears that Apple will deliver these smartphones with a glass back cover with matte textures, and the color options will be extended. Besides black, silver and gold, the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max will also come in a shade of dark green.
There are also some bad news about these new iPhone 11 models. Firstly, the notch will not disappear and will not be smaller. Also, the charger will not be improved. Many Apple fans hoped to see the new iPhone 11 models delivered with a 18 W charger, but Apple is not listening to fans. Storage options will not be improved. We expected to see a minimum of 128 GB of storage for the new generation, considering that many other smartphones manufacturers are doing the same but Apple will continue to keep the three options: 64 GB, 256 GB or 512 GB and – of course – microSD cards are out of the question.
These details were published on reddit and the source is a “former Foxconn employee”, a person who worked in the factory where the new iPhone 11 is assembled. Considering that Apple is going to announce the new iPhone 11 in approximately one month from now, it is very possible for the smartphones to be already in production so they can be ready to appear by the end of September. However, there is also a chance for the details above to be partially or completely false.
