One of the few surprises kept by Sony for this year’s edition of PlayStation Experience was the return of the MediEvil series. According to Shawn Layden, the president of Sony Interactive Entertainment America, the company decided to launch a remake of the first MediEvil title, being inspired by the success of the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy collection.
The remake will arrive next year, just in time to catch the 20th anniversary of the series and promises to fully take advantage of the technology provided by the PlayStation 4 platform.
MediEvil, initially released in 1998 for the first PlayStation gaming console, gets players in the skin of Sir Daniel Fortesque who, risen from the dead, has to defend the kingdom of Gallowmere from the evil forces controlled by Zarok, a Wizard who can control the dead.
The rebooted MediEvil version compatible with PlayStation 4 will be released in 2018.
