Actor Mark Hamil will voice Chucky in the Child’s Play reboot movie produced by Metro Goldwyn Mayer and Orion Pictures.
According to Deadline, Mark Hamil, who became famous world wide thanks to his role in the Star Wars franchise, will star alongside Aubrey Plaza ( Parks and Recreation, Safety not Guaranteed ), Gabriel Bateman ( Benji, Outcast ) and Brian Tyree Henry ( Windows, If Beale Street Could Talk ).
The Child’s Play movie is a contemporary retake on the classic horror movie released in 1988 and it focuses on Karen ( Plaza ) a single mother that gifts her son, Andy, a doll, without having a clue that it’s much more than just a doll.
Child’s Play is directed by Norwegian director Lars Klevberg and the script is written by Tyler Burton Smith ( Quantum Break ).
The original Child’s Play movie grossed $44 million internationally with a budget of $9 million and Chucky became the most popular and successful horror characters in history. The original Child’s Play movie generated six sequels: Child’s Play 2, Child’s Play 3, Bride of Chucky, Seed of Chucky, Curse of Chucky and Cult of Chucky.
The creator of the Chucky character is Don Manicini, who was inspired to create Chucky by the My Buddy dolls released in 1985 by Hasbro ( the dolls were created for boys with the purpose of making them more careful with their friends ).
Child’s Play will be premiered in the United States on June 21, 2019.
