A man from New Jersey, United States, says he returned a book to the library after he loaned it 53 years ago.
Harry Krame from Fair Town, New Jersey says he loaned the book “The Family Book of Verse” by Lewis Gannet from the library of his school when he was only 13 years old and the president of the United States was Lyndon B. Johnson.
Harry Krame, 65 years old now, says that he was cleaning the basement of his home when he found the book the loaned when he was 13 years old. The man says he felt guilty for not returning the book in time.
The deputy headmaster of the school, Dominick Tarquinio says that the delay fee is around the sum of $2000 but the school says the man doens’t have to pay the fine.
School librarian Susan Murray said that she will use the book to educate kids about not returning loaned books.
