At the age of 50, Keanu Reeves re-launched his career as an action star with the John Wick trilogy.
In a recent interview for GQ magazine, actor Keanu Reeves revealed that he was blacklisted for 14 years by Fox studios because he refused a role.
Keanu Reeves explained that, after the success of the Speed movie in 1994, Fox approached him to star in the sequel of the movie, but he refused the role in order to star in a Hamlet production. Fox went ahead with the sequel – Speed 2: Cruise Control – released in 1997 starring Jason Patric alongside Sandra Bullock.
“I remember i haven’t worked with Fox until The Day the Earth Stood Still in 2008” Keanu Reeves said, who mentioned that the next studio movie was 47 Ronin, a movie that failed at the box office. As far as the John Wick franchise goes, Keanu Reeves said he didn’t expected to return on the big screen as an action star at the age of 50 and that he wishes to play John Wick for as long as possible.
