Huawei 5G CPE is the first commercial device for 5G communication, compatible with the global 3GPP telecommunication standard.
For this device Huawei has developed a new chipset, the Balong 5G01 model. This is the first commercial chipset in the world that can support the 3GPP telecommunication standard for 5G technology, with theoretic download speeds of up to 2.5 Gbps. The new device supports all 5G frequencies, including sub-6GHz and MMW, this offering a complete 5G solution for consumers.
The Huawei 5G CPE device was designed in two versions: the first version covers the sub-6 frequency band and the second version handles the high frequencies ( mmWave ). The Huawei 5G CPE with low frequency is small and light, compatible with 4G and 5G, and can ensure a download speed of up to 2 Gbps, twice as much as the download speed of a 100 Mbps fiber optic.
Huawei works closely with more than 30 telecommunications companies including Vodafone, Softbank, BT, Telefonica, T-Mobila, China Telecom, China Mobile and others. Huawei has started to test 5G commercial networks with the help of its partners in 2017, finalizing the testing and offering the first round of commercial 5G networks in 2018.
