The Google search engine is getting a new update right now, maybe one of the most important updates in the last few years. We’re talking about a new keyword processing engine based on artificial intelligence.
The Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers ( or simply BERT ), the new method to process search engine result pages uses machine learning algorithms to analyze the entire string of words used for search, not just words taken separately, in trying to determine the user’s intention about finding a specific type of information. For example, the search phrase “can you get medicine for someone pharmacy” would have returned references towards a website that explains the general process of getting a prescription filled. By using BART, Google can determine the user’s intention of picking up medicine based on a prescription of a member of the family.
According to Google, approximately 105 of Google Search searches will benefit from the contextual analysis of the search phrase thus improving the accuracy of the displayed results.
For the moment only English phrases will benefit from BERT and other languages will be added in time.
