Many times, the only possible option for buyers in poorer countries, are the low cost Android phones and many in those countries use these phones. This is enough reason for Google to release a personalized Android Oreo version, optimized for phones running 512 MB or 1 GB of RAM memory.
The smaller version of the official Android Oreo 8.1 operating system called Go Edition occupies 50% less internal memory space and comes with Lite version of official Google apps such as Google Go, Google Assistant, YouTube Go, Google Maps Go, Gmail Go, Google Play, Chrome, Files Go and Gboard.
Users can supplement their apps library by installing new apps from the Google Play Store where they can find a dedicated section for apps optimized for reduced processor and memory. But, when you have no choice, you can also go ahead and install regular Android apps.
Google promises the Android Oreo Go Edition will become available in the next few months and so far we don’t know the precise release date.
