U.S. president Donald Trump wants to fire his National Security adviser, General Herbert Raymond McMaster, according to The Washington Post.
Five sources told The Washington Post that Donald Trump has a list of names to replace General H.R. McMaster as National Security Adviser. The list includes names such as John Bolton, the former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations and Keith Kellogg, Chief of Staff of the National Security Council.
Reuters contacted the White House in regard to this news but so far the White House has not reacted.
Earlier this week, after months of tensions between Donald Trump and Rex Tillerson, the President finally gave up and decided to fire the secretary of state, replacing him with former CIA director Mike Pompeo, who has the reputation of being a “hawk”.
Donald Trump suggested that changes in his administration are not done. “I am close to having the Administration I want” Trump said about firing Rex Tillerson.
According to The Washington Post, the President allotted a time period to replace H.R. McMaster in order to not humiliate him and find a good candidate. The Washington Post reports that Trump never liked and appreciated McMaster and he recently told his Chief of Staff, John Kelly, that he wants him gone.
Donald Trump complains that H.R. McMaster, a three stars general, is too rigid and that his presentations are too long.
Herbert Raymond McMaster is the second National Security adviser of the Trump administration, succeeding Michael Flynn one year ago, who was fired after it was revealed that he had contacts with the Russian ambassador to the United States during the White House transition period.
