Disney is planning to launch its own streaming service this year and according to the information we have so far it will be cheaper than Netflix.
There has been a lot of talk in the last few years about a streaming service from Disney. Disney owns many popular franchises such as Marvel, Pixar or Star Wars and the success is almost guaranteed but up until now there has been no official details about the availability of the Disney streaming service.
Without a doubt, Disney is a giant of the movie industry world wide. In the last few years, Disney grew even bigger by purchasing Fox. It remains to be seen how Disney will sort through the plethora of intellectual properties in a single streaming service, along with original productions created especially for the platform.
The Disney+ streaming service will be officially launched on November 12, 2019. The date doesn’t appear to have any special meaning but it lines up to the rumors that it will be available in the last quarter of this year. Disney officials mentioned in the past that the service will be launched in 2019 but they haven’t mentioned a precise date.
Right now the cheapest Netflix subscription costs $9. Disney+ will have a price of $7 so you’ll be better motivated to subscribe. If you subscribe for one year right from the start you will get 2 months for free at a price of $70. Netflix has never offered such an additional benefit. Moreover, Netflix has recently increased the subscription prices.
Initially, Disney+ will only be available in the United States and in the next few months it will be available world wide. In the United States, people who want to buy a Disney+ subscription along with Hulu or ESPN+ will get additional discounts.
