Today, March 11, a meeting was set to take place at Real Madrid during which the leadership of the team was supposed to decide whether to sack coach Santiago Solari or not.
Until now, Real Madrid’s president Florentino Perez delayed making a decision regarding Santiago Solari but now everything is just a matter of time and the situation might take any turn in any moment, according to AS.
Even though Real Madrid won the away from home match yesterday against Valladolid with the score of 1-4, Santiago Solari might be sacked today. A meeting took place this morning but most likely the decision might be made later today or even at the end of the season. One thing is certain though: Santiago Solari will leave Real Madrid sooner or later, later being at the end of the season.
The elimination of Real Madrid by Ajax from the Champions League upset Florentino Perez a lot. The president was determined to replace Solari with Jose Mourinho as soon as possible. Actually, Perez and Mourinho had some talks and Perez waited to see how the match against Valladolid ends.
Santiago Solari in open conflict with a few Real Madrid players
The team appeared to be in collapse especially after internal conflicts between players, such as the conflict between Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos and Marcelo ( who is the second captain of Real Madrid ). The conflict between Sergio Ramos and Marcelo is very surprising considering that Sergio Ramos’ brother is the agent of Marcelo. But now the team appears to have found some common ground especially since the team has the opportunity of getting very good results in the following weeks because the team’s schedule is pretty easy in La Liga. Moreover, some important Real Madrid players such as Nacho or Karim Benzema want Solari to continue his work at Real Madrid.
On the other hand, Santiago Solari is in conflict with Isco ever since the Argentinian coach has been named manager. Marcelo is also not happy with Solari because he spends more time now on the bench and his place was given to Reguilon. This situation is making Marcelo unhappy and there are rumors that he’s going to leave Real Madrid in the summer for Juventus.
Florentino Perez is also considering ending the season with Santiago Solari as the coach in order to have time to properly create a strategy for the next season. Even so, Florentino Perez is also thinking that a changing the coach is necessary as soon as possible and the main reason is that the new coach will have enough time to get to know the Real Madrid players until the new season starts.
At this moment Santiago Solari is in open conflict with a few important Real Madrid players which has also affected the team’s image, which is something Florentino Perez does not like at all. Isco and Marcelo are the players that have been the longest in conflict with the coach and Perez thinks that a new coach right now might blow things up in the locker room.
According to Marca, real Madrid does not confirm keeping Solari on. Actually, with a team divided by internal scandals and without changes of winning a trophy this season, nobody from Real Madrid’s management is eager to confirm that Solari will be on the bench next weekend for the match against Celta Vigo. Although we’ve seen the names of Jose Mourinho and Zinedine Zidane being thrown out there as the possible placements for Solari, Real Madrid’s management has not issued a statement confirming Solari’s chair and they are continuing to analyze the situation.
If Solari is sacked right now, this might make things worse in the locker room so everything is now in “stand by” and as Perez and other members of the management continue to analyze things better.
