Approximately 10% of all iPhone owners would rather change the battery of their phones than buying a new iPhone according to Barclays Capital. According to Barclays, the iPhone sales might be 16 million units less in 2018 because of the battery scandal, Apple conforming that the performances of older smartphones with degraded batteries is being reduced.
Precisely, 10% of iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6S, 6S Plus, 7, 7 Plus and SE owners said that they will opt to replace the battery rather than buying a new iPhone.
Barclays also says that because of this Apple might lose $10,3 billion because of this scandal this year.
Apple explains that the company reduced the performances of the iPhone through software updates to minimize the risk for old phones to shutdown suddenly. The company reduced the prices of the batteries for all those who want to replace it, regardless of the health of their batteries.
Some say that Apple did this with the sole purpose of making people upgrade to the new iPhone models.
